Our first Phlebotomy Technician class is off and running! The students are really enjoying it, so far.
Our program is 8 weeks in length and consists of a blended learning environment. The first four weeks of the class is online, where the student will login through our website to our online classroom. The online classroom has powerpoint, quizzes, videos, and assignments for the student to complete.
As the student enters the second half of the class, they come into the classroom to the Phlebotomy lab. In the lab the student will familiarize themselves with the equipment they will be using. The student will begin to practice applying the tourniquet, collecting equipment, venipuncture, dermal punctures and more! We have a mannequin arm that the student will practice their first several venipuncture and dermal punctures on. From there the students will begin practicing blood draws on each other.
Our goal is to create a friendly, comfortable environment for our students to learn and succeed in. We want out students to feel open to enough to ask questions, attempt blood draws and gain the confidence they need to be successful Phlebotomists.
This Phlebotomy program is a great class for individuals looking to enter the healthcare field. There are a variety of individuals who look to take Phlebotomy classes. First and foremost individuals who are looking to becoming Phlebotomists will need to go through proper training, such as our Phlebotomy Technician class, in order to obtain a job as a Phlebotomist. Nursing students are great candidates for this class as well. Most nursing programs do not put their students through phlebotomy training or teach the essential knowledge needed in order to become successful in phlebotomy. As a nurse you will be required to complete blood draws through your career.
