WHAT IS A CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT (CNA)?

A CNA is a member of the healthcare team that provides care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The CNA or nurse aide performs assigned tasks, such as vital signs and provides or assists with routine personal care, such as bathing patients and helping with toileting. The duties of the nurse assistant include observation, reporting, recording changes in resident’s condition, personal care services, assistance with activities of daily living (ADL), assist patients in attaining and maintaining functional independence, and communicate and interacting in a sensitive manner with patients. The duties also include assisting patients to move around safely, keeping patients living areas neat and clean, encouraging patients to eat and drink, caring for supplies and equipment, helping patients dress, making beds, helping patients with mouth care, updating other team members on resident’s status, and documenting or charting.

The median salary for a Certified Nurse Assistant in Michigan is $31,500. On average a CNA will make anywhere from $14.50/hour to $20.00/hour depending on your location. Other benefits of becoming a CNA are medical benefits, vacation/sick time, and paid holidays.

How do I register for the CNA class?

To register for the Certified Nurse Assistant class we require a $300 deposit to secure your spot. At the time of registration you will be required to fill out a registration packet as well as place your deposit. The remaining balance of $725 would be due on or before the first day of class. You can register by scheduling an appointment, paying your deposit over the phone, or on our website.

What is the cost of the CNA Program?

The total cost of the CNA class is $1,050. The student is responsible for purchasing the book and one pair of dark purple scrubs to wear to class. Books are available to purchase through Heart to Heart for $50

What are the requirements to be accepted into your Certified Nurse Assistant class?

You must be at least 17 years of age, provide a negative TB test within the last year, and pass a background check. The background check is completed by Heart to Heart and included in the tuition. Currently an exemption from COVID-19 vaccination or proof of vaccination is required for clinical. We will accept all exemptions related to personal choices, medical or religious beliefs if you have chosen not to receive the vaccination. 

Do you offer Financial Aid or Payment Plans?

We do accept payment plans. If you are interested in a payment plan, please contact Heart to Heart for more information.

At this time we do not offer financial aid through FASFA. However, you can contact your local Michigan Works. If you qualify, they may assist you with paying for our courses.

How long is the Certified Nurse Assistant class?
