Our EKG Technician class consists of a blended learning experience of both online and in- class. All lectures will take place through our online classroom, while all of your lab experience will take place in the classroom setting during specific dates/times. The class is 10 weeks in length with labs on Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm while lecture takes place online. 

This program prepares the graduate to work as an entry-level EKG Technician in any clinical setting. Our students will be taught anatomy and physiology, safety, medical terminology, communication, infection control, EKG basics, equipment, electrode placement, how to read and interpret EKG’s as well as various other information regarding EKG’s. After completion of the program the student may sit for the National Certification Examination for EKG (student is responsible for the paying for the national exam). Our structured program gives step by step guided instruction so that every student can be successful, whether they have a prior medical education and experience or not.

What is a EKG Technician?

An EKG Technician are allied health professionals responsible for performing diagnostic tests to assess the patient’s heart ryhythm and rate. They ensure proper electrode placement on the patient, record the EKG, prepare the report for the physician, ensure patient comfort and safety, and troubleshoot abnormalities with the recording.

What is the cost of the EKG Technician Program?

The total cost of the EKG class is $950. The student is responsible for purchasing the book (ECG’s Made Easy – 6th Edition by Barbara J Aehlert, RN, BSPA, ISBN-13: 978-0323401302, ISBN-10: 9780323401302) and one pair of dark purple scrubs which are required for the lab portion of the class. The EKG Technician National Certification Exam cost is $114.50. The student is responsible for the costs of the national certification exam.

How do I register for the EKG Program?

To register for the EKG Technician class we require a $300 deposit to secure your spot. At the time of registration you will be required to fill out a registration packet as well as place your deposit. The remaining balance of $650 would be due on or before the first day of class. You can register by scheduling an appointment, paying your deposit over the phone, or on our website.

Do you offer Financial Aid or Payment Plans?

At this time we do not offer financial aid through FASFA. However, you can contact your local Michigan Works. If you qualify, they may assist you with paying for our courses.

What are the requirements to be accepted into your EKG training class?

You must be at least 18 years of age.

How long is the EKG class?

The EKG Technician class at Heart to Heart is 10 weeks in length and a hybrid format. You will attend in-person lab one day a week (Thursdays from 7 pm to 9 pm). Simultaneously, while attending the lab you will work in the online classroom each week to complete lessons. The online lessons include lectures, PowerPoint, quizzes, exams, and homework. In lab you will be able to work with the EKG equipment as well as get practical experience attaching patients to EKG’s as well as reading and interpreting EKG’s. Only offered at Ypsilanti Location.
